October | Magic and spider’s webs

Welcome to October’s wonder quest and private podcast. On 31 October we mark the final harvest festival in the Wheel of the Year – Samhain (pronounced ‘sow’eine’) also known as Hallowe’en or Hallow’s Eve. It marks the end and the beginning of the year. Samhain has always been seen as a magical time, especially at dawn and dusk. It is a time when autumn ends and winter begins and we begin slip into drifting, dreaming, visioning and remembering.

Spiders begin to emerge in autumn as it is mating season. Their webs glisten in dawn and dusk, seemingly magical in their construction and beauty. And so our wonder quest explores these mysterious structures and the creatures that make them. Hence, this month’s theme: magic.
