December | Wishing upon a falling star
Welcome to December’s wonder quest and private podcast. This month brings us the darkest day of the year – the Winter Solstice on 21 December. This month has been a time for gatherings and celebrations to remember and call back the Sun since pre-Christian times. And crisp, clear and long winter nights invite us to turn our gazes upwards to the skies.
From 4-20 December our skies are showered with the Geminids meteor shower, peaking 14-15 December. Christmas brings the nostalgia of child-like longing and wishing, hence, this month we will be exploring wishing upon a shooting star.
In the private podcast this month recorded in my garden, I share:
Why a shooting star isn’t actually a star
How to see the Geminid Meteor Shower this December
Where the idea of wishing upon a star comes from
Why we need more dreamers wishing for (and taking action towards) a more loving world
A beautiful story about a shooting star from the Ogweho:weh First Nations people
How to take part in The Wild Enchantment Club
Please listen to the private podcast episode then throughout the month turn your loving attention to the wonder quest in a way that fits with your life – be that in your garden first thing in the morning, on your commute, in the park after school drop off or during lunch.
